HOW TO GET THERE
BY AIR
Our preference is to travel by air to Alghero airport (70 mins from the house) where our car is parked. Ryanair, Volotea and ITA Airways operate most flights. Other option is to fly to the Olbia airport (90 km from the house) including Easyjet and Corendon and many regular airlines. You may also consider the Figari Airport south of Corse via a short ferry to access Sardinia (70 km from the house).
From Belgium
Brussels Charleroi – Alghero: 2 hrs direct flight, 6-7 hrs door to door or Brussels to Olbia or Ajaccio Corse.
From other European destinations
Other direct flights from western Europe to Alghero: London Standsted, Dublin, Cork, Copenhagen, Billund, Oslo, Stockholm, Geneva Munich, Bordeaux, Madrid, Barcelona. Irrespective where you are coming from you can get a transfer in one of the main Italian cities (Milano, Bologna, Venice, Rome) which also invites for a combination with a short city trip, especially in the off season.
From the Czech Republic
We recommend direct flights (2 hrs) from Bratislava, Katowice, Vienna or Munich Memmingen airports or Prague to Olbia (often with a transfer). There are direct trains and bus connections to these airports 24/7.
BY FERRY (if you drive your own car)
Porto Torres (40 min from the house) from Genoa, Nice, Toulon, Barcelona, Ajaccio
Livorno -Olbia – 7-12 hour sailing, provided by several carriers, goes several times a day.
Info can be found at www.directferries.com
Ferries run reliably even through the winter.
LOCAL TRANSPORTATION
It is certainly possible to travel around Sardinia by local bus transport, but we recommend a car - after agreeing to rent ours (see the Prices & Conditions page) or from one of the rental companies (the price varies according to the date - we recommend checking the price in advance).
